Michael has nearly 40 years senior level experience in client facing service organisations in a variety of different industries but most recently in financial services. A keen amateur athlete, as well as having an interest in healthcare, Michael is our guinea pig for many of our products.
Michael started his management career in the Civil Service in Southampton, introducing a number of reforms in the area’s unemployment benefit offices, many of which were later adopted on a national basis, before moving on to the private sector.
Starting with Mastercare, then the service organisation for Currys and Dixons, Michael co-managed the company’s most profitable service centre in Southampton before moving to Bath to tackle and reform the failing branch there.
A move to London then followed and using his accountancy knowledge Michael joined Lazard Brothers in the City to help computerise the accounting records for the sterling dealing and foreign currency trading departments.
He was then approached by the private client investment team to modernise service levels and to develop innovative ways of working. In 1994 he was recruited by Investment Research of Cambridge to set up a private client investment division which subsequently became part of Brown Shipley in 2001. At Brown Shipley, he was part of the management team that developed new offices in Birmingham and Edinburgh which has given the company a strong presence throughout the UK.
In 2009, he was headhunted by Sanlam, a South African financial services company to help build its UK private client business in the South West.
Following the death of his partner due to a missed diagnosis of cancer Michael developed a desire for promoting and improving medical diagnostic products and in particular making the next generation of diagnostic kits easily available for home use.
